Fururu yuki (Edogawa). Two beauties create a colorful contrast against the snow-covered landscape as they cross a wooden bridge spanning the Edo River. This is the full-color version of this popular design. There is also a blue version of this work that is more often seen. According to an interview with Mrs. Doi, the printer Yokoi  continued printing “a couple of years after the war”. This work was published by Doi Hangaten in the years following the war, ca. late 1940s. [Another example of this design with these exact publisher’s seals and faded colors was sold at Sotheby’s London in March 2022 for $39,830. Another example with these seals sold for $21,483 at Sothebys in December of 2022.] Collectors must be aware of RECENTLY PRINTED Doi-sealed works of this very compelling design that were printed with new color blocks and bear a copy of the prewar Doi Sadaichi seal.
