Kuniyoshi: Shopkeepers fighting (Sold)

A old woman with an almost monkey-like, cruel face face looks as though she is ready to castrate an older man, probably her husband. As she reaches for his privates he pulls her hair and brandishes a club with his right hand. Various goods have scattered and two bystanders look on in surprise and horror. A dog also watches with an almost amused expression. Preparatory drawing in sumi with some red under-drawing on thin paper mounted to a backing sheet. This must have been intended for a very interesting series as it is far from the usual actor, beauty or warrior print.
