Hiroshige 広重

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), along with Hokusai, was the master of the 19th century landscape print. His works had an indelible impact on all of western art and were collected by Van Gogh, Whistler, Monet, Manet and other important 19th century artists. This gallerist tends to favor Hiroshige's upright landscape views done in the final years of his career, as the improved printing quality and heightened drama combine for a more extraordinary visual impact, especially in regards to the series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo".
