The Battle of Shizugatake was a battle in 1583 between supporters of Hashiba Hideyoshi and Oda Nobutaka. The strongmen who battled to ultimately unify all of Japan were ruthless beyond imagination. Apparently Yoshitoshi’s imagination could clearly conjure a scene like this, involving more than twenty severed heads, at the tender age of 22. Scarce design.

Condition: Excellent impression and color; very good condition. Folds at 1 cm from left of each sheet and areas of paper thinning on central sheet.
