Taking a respite from a very violent fight, the wounded chief of the Edo otokodate Banzuin Chôbei drinks from a bathhouse bucket, half-seated as his extended leg has been impaled by a broken naginata. His sword rests nearby, and there bloody handprints on his torso, indicating it was a rather intimate fight and that the fight is not over yet. He will soon be murdered by the traitor Mizunô Jûrôzaemon.
