Oversized work showing the entrance gate to a shrine in the verdant forest setting in the ancient city of Nikkô. Japanese visitors wear traditional clothing as they walk down the stone steps towards the stone lantern at the entrance. The shrine gate itself has been painted red, with gold embellishments. We can make out the two guardian statues posing within the structure.
