“Kanagawa in Musashi Province: Distant View of Yokohama” (Bushû Kanagawa, Yokohama enbô). Station Kanagawa lay directly across the bay from Yokohama, where the foreigners lived in the early Meiji Period. Yoshimori has most likely used a western engraving as a model for this western woman, who is posed almost like a madonna but looking slightly askance. Behind her we see the ships in the bay.
