A man plies a courtesan with sake with his left hand, while with his right hand he attempts a rather bold amorous advance. She has stopped playing in mid-tune to attempt to thwart his naughty hand. This is an unsigned “abuna-e” (literally, “dangerous picture”), a print that is racy and showing a flash of skin while avoiding more overt sexuality.
