Artist: Takahashi Hiroaki (Shotei) (1872-1945)
Title: The Sumida River Date: ca. 1924-27
Two women contentedly enjoy the views of cherry blossoms while waiting out a rain shower beneath the thatched roof of a tea stall. On the water we see several boats plying its smooth blue surface. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, above, and the rain comes down in diagonal streaks. The perspective is quite interesting, as we are viewing from the side two people who are also enjoying the view.
