Itō Shinsui: Lip Rouge (Kuchibeni)
Artist: Itō Shinsui
Title: Lip Rouge (Kuchibeni)
Series: Twelve Forms of New Beauties
Date: 1922, October
A beauty’s expression is focused as she carefully dips her finger into a jar of rouge, and returns her hand to her lips for its application. There is mica in the collar of her robe, and just a hint of blindprinting on her lower lip. The hair and face have been printed with great subtlety. Watanabe used very high quality paper for this series. With a limited edition seal of 190 out of two hundred, verso.
Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition.
