A scene from “suma”, Chapter Twelve from the Tales of Genji. Here we see Genji during his self-imposed exile, gazing into the distance. With original hand-applied pigments, including metallics that were “blown” on via a mouth-held tube. Prints from this period are quite scarce.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition. Trimmed at top.
