Fireflies at Ochanomizu. A small pleasure boat is poled along a the Kanda River (which is actually an aqueduct) at night. Surrounding the lamplit boat are clusters of fireflies, bright against the evening dark. Kiyochika excelled at these night scenes, and it is interesting to note that here he has chosen to portray not an iota of westernization. The MFA and Honolulu examples also lack the title at bottom, which was probably added to later editions.
