Kuropatkin, the Russian Minister of War, appeals to Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Russia, who seems indifferent to his kneeling pleas. St. Andrew holds a Russian shield that shows the iconic bird shedding tears. Kuropatkin is pointing to one of several destroyed ships that indicate the ruination of the Russian fleet.
