Lieutenant General Katsura holds his ground, a large and imposing man. He seems here just as tall as his horse, which he holds by the bridle. The horse is neatly wrapped in a winter cover-up, and is much more animated than his general, blowing steam from his nostrils and lifting his front leg. Kiyochika seems to have a special appreciation for horses, as he portrays them with great care.

Condition: Excellent impression and color. Very good condition. Backing remnants verso.
