A strong rain shower has just passed over the house, from which veranda we view the Sumida River and Minakami Forest in the distance. A Chinese lute is set against a pillar and a music notes lie on the floor. This instrument was imported during the last half of the Edo Period but it became popular around 1884 (Meiji 16) again. Some other Chinese things such as pots and cups were considered to be modern and fashionable at that time.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition. Some wormage right edge.
