Kuniyoshi: Kikenji Tokyô Lifting a Rock (SOLD)

Title: Kikenji Tokyô Lifting a Rock
Date: ca. 1847-53
From the series Tsûzoku Suikoden gôketsu hyakuhachi-nin (The Hundred and Eight Heroes of the Popular Suikoden). Kikenji Tokyô (Chinese name Du Xing) lifts an exotic (Chinese-style) rock with one hand. He gazes with intensity at three carp, who are raising their heads above the water. Above him is an extra-large flower, also obviously exotic. He has removed his robe; perhaps he is about to enter the water.
