Koson 古邨 : Bats And Willow Against Full Moon

Title: Bats And Willow Against Full Moon Date: ca. 1920s-1930s

Two bats are shown with wings outstretched, the upper one large and silhouetted against the full moon, the lower one smaller and shown flying upside down. The composition is anchored by the willow tree, its trunk extending the length of the print, its branches hanging down with delicacy. The moon itself is shaded a very faint pink; the very soft pink is also the same hue in the Muller example in the National Museum of Asian Art.

Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition.
