Title: Moon at Sumanoura Beach 須磨の浦

A full moon rises above above Suma Beach, casting a shimmering glow upon the water. The moonlight is so bright that the lone man walking the beach is casting a shadow. The sea has been beautifully depicted. Suma’s famous white sand beach in Kobe appears in many Japanese literary classics, including the Genji Monogatari and the Heike Monogatari The seal at left reads Doi Hangaten, which indicates that this work was printed shortly after WWII, probably around 1950. These are the same seals that are on the Art Institute of Chicago example.
