Kobayashi Ikuhide: Cats As Street Performers (SOLD)

Playing Cats in New Edition (Shinban neko no tawamure). Charming example of gijin-e, anthropomorphic animals, featuring cats. Most of the cats seem to be street performers and their customers. We see acrobats at top, with the sprigs of extra “hair” on their head scarves. We see a cat/man blowing bubbles and holding a fan; a musician and three dancers, and several others at bottom offering a kind of juggling act, complete with a cat/man playing an instrument. The onlookers are mostly women and their children, and they are definitely amused.
