Treetop (Blue). We see a tree in winter, the finer branches that point towards us rendered in ice-blue and the larger portions in a deep azurite. The artist has chosen an unusual viewpoint, skipping the trunk and focusing on the branches, cropping the tree in a very Japanese way, and leaving the open space above that is a deep gold mixed with moss green. Hoshi’s unique techniques using gold and silver leaf and blocks that he finished with a blowtorch have been imitated by others, but the power and beauty of his designs remain unequaled. Titled in Japanese and signed and dated '93 in pencil by the artist.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition. Very light mat burn near image that would not be apparent if the work were framed.
