Nihonbashi, Clearing After Snow(Nihonbashi yukibare). “This iconic view of Edo is perfect as a symbolic start of this great series.” (Smith II, 1986) We see a bustling fish market, fishermen in their boats, an already busy Nihonbashi Bridge, and to the left the fireproof storehouses of Edo. “Everything in this view suggests freshness and plenty”. (Smith II, 1986). This is a very early edition, with the bokashi dark in the center of the river and the 2-color bokashi in the title cartouche.
