Artist: Yoshida Hiroshi 吉田博 (1876-1950)
Title: Moon Light in Acropolis アクロポリスの夜

Date: 1928

Small but mighty view of the mighty ruins of the Acropolis at night. An intimate nocturne, the deeper hues of blue, purple and deep green are brightened up by the many bright orange lights that glow from numerous windows. Yoshida created some fantastic oil paintings when he was visiting this site in 1925, in addition to the two oban-sized print designs showing the Acropolis ruins by day and by night that were published the same year.

Yoshida created a number of these miniature works in 1928, which are rather scarce to appear on the market. These works always lack the "jizuri" seal.
