Eichigo: Oyashirazu, from the series “Sixty-odd Famous Views of the Provinces”. Oyashirazu is the beach between Ichiburi and Tonami, the most west end of the province and is known as one of the most difficult passage on the Hokuriku kaidô, the highway which runs in the northern provinces. The highway runs directly under the rock along the beach. These rocks are the Hida Mountain Range. When a storm comes, the wind blows so strong that even parents cannot take care of their children. Therefore the place is called “oyashirazu” (do not know the parents). On the left hand edge the houses of the villageTonami are depicted.
