A figure carrying a large basket walks on a path in dappled shade. The forest brightens ahead as the sun peaks through a clearing. With the Watanabe seal that was in use between 1930 and 1942. The Nikkokaido ran from Nihonbashi in Tokyo to Nikko. Early editions of this design are becoming few and far between. Provenance: From the personal collection of the late Hasui scholar Hisao Shimizu.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition. Paper with very slight toning.
