Hasui: Daikon Riverbank (Daikongashi) (Sold)
Artist: Kawase Hasui
Title: Daikon Riverbank (Daikongashi)
Date: Summer 1920
Hasui wrote: “A vegetable market is held on the Daikon Riverbank near the Kyô Bridge. This print focuses mainly on the contrast of two elements: the old buildings--relics of Edo--and the vivid impression of the fresh vegetables. I also attempted to convey the chaotic atmosphere of a typical vegetable market.” A charmingly indirect view of a bustling place, very reminiscent of Hiroshige.
