Kabe Island is located in Saga Prefecture, and we may be near the precincts of Tashima Shrine. From our view towards the sea, the terraced slopes are bordered by cherry trees that bloom a deep pink. Thatch-roofed structures top the hill that we look down from. Narazaki wrote: “En route from Karatsu to the site of Nagoya Castle is teh port of Yobuko; the long narrow island of Kabeshima is visible off the coast. The warm climate means that this district produces an abundance of farm products. This is an accomplished portrayal o f the Karatsu Bay, which boasts of the white sands and green pines of the arc-shaped beach of Niji-no-Matsubara. Mount Uki is seen in the distance”. With the red limited edition seal verso that reads: "limited edition of 300, number 33". Also includes the original Watanabe presentation folder, although the work is no longer mounted. A scarce, pre-earthquake design.
