Kyoto Kamogawa no yûgure. A dyer works on hanging the colorful lengths of cloth to dry in the riverbed of the Kamo River in Kyoto. The flat area next to the clean water used for rinsing cloth makes it the perfect place for such an activity. Narazaki wrote “Even today the airing of textiles on the banks of the Kamo River in Kyoto is a familiar sight.” The sky is slowly turning sunset colors, a number of which are echoed in the colors of the fabrics. Mounted in the original Watanabe presentation folder. Very scarce, pre-earthquake design.
