A pair of ducks stand out against a deep purple pond in winter. Narazaki wrote: “This picture was made to complement the print ‘Mandarin ducks’ (H534). Foreigners customarily purchased prints in pairs, and as such a number of works were designed with this market in mind.” There are two versions of this print, with H535a having a black background. Rare.
