Hasui: The Yama Temple, Sendai (Sold)
Artist: Kawase Hasui
Title: The Yama Temple, Sendai
Date: 1933 (Showa hachinen sangatsu saku)
The Ryûmonzandô Unzen Temple is peaceful beneath windless downpour. The rain was produced using the technique of karazuri gauffrage, and then the colors were printed one by one. It is unusual to depict rain falling straight down and in white, but Hasui has effectively communicated a time, place, and mood perfectly.
Condition: Excellent impression, color and condition.
