Hasui: Watercolor Painting of a Waterfront
Artist: Kawase Hasui
Title: Watercolor Painting of a Waterfront
Two men pause to converse on a rainy day along a curving waterfront. Painting is done in hues of soft green. The curator of the Ota City Folk Museum believes that there are three types of watercolors done by Hasui; an original for print design; ones intended for exhibition (signed with “hanga-do”); and by request for collectors who liked his prints, perhaps for a design close to their area of residence.
Signature: Hasui with Kawase seal
