A village woman walks along a stone-lined creek, just below an old-fashioned waterwheel. The escalating world war seems very far away. She carries a small child on her back. With the Watanabe seal right margin that was in use between 1933 and 1942, so this may be considered a first edition.

Provenance: This work is from the personal collection of the late Hasui scholar HIsao Shimizu, former curator of the Ota City Folk Museum and author of many catalogs on the artist.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition.
