Hasui himself says it best: “Many lumberyards are located in Kiba in the Fukagawa district. As seen in this scene, stacks of logs create long rows on either side of the river. I depicted this place at dusk in early winter, the setting sun bathing the sky and water in a beautiful bright color”. Rare, pre-earthquake design.
