Preparatory drawing for a triptych showing women performing many steps in silk production. Many aspects point to Sadahide as the artist. The Japanese writing in one corner says “6th month 20th day (then comes address followed by the name of publisher) ….. Keijiro-” Fujioka Keijiro was a publisher who published some Sadahide triptychs in the 1860s.There is a silk production triptych by Sadahide from ca. 1850 with many of the elements shown in this work. (Sanka shokofu no zu) “Weaving Women at a Silkmaking Cottage”.
