The famous general Kato Kiyomasa scouts a castle from an overlooking rocky promontory. Geese fly past, indicating his lofty height. With pentimenti, and somewhat unusually for Kuniyoshi, some red under-drawing. This reconnoitering pose is used with fair regularity by the artist, but a final print has not been found that matches exactly. KIyomasa may be identified by his distinctive helmet shaped like eboshi headgear. Drawing for a chûban-sized print.
