Lord Mashiba Subjugates Korea (Mashiba tairyô Sankan taiji).Mashiba is a false name used to refer to Toyotome Hideyoshi (1537-1598) as this print was printed during the Edo Period. Hideyoshi invaded Korea in 1592 and withdrew in 1598 (The Seven Years War). Hideyoshi is credited with being the main unifier of the country of Japan in the late 16th century. In the foreground is the main fight between Lord Mashiba and his Korean aopponent, standing before an iron grate. In the background we see more fighting and in the very back a row of exoticized mountains.
