The cartouche reads: Saeki Uginaga was on his way to Kyoto to take part in the sumo matches. When passing through Omi No Kuni he came upon a smiling maid who had come to the stream to get water. He thrust his hand into her bosom, but she is unfrightened, imperturbable, and still smiling; so he thrust forward his other hand and grasped her breasts, but she grasped his hands so tightly that it made him wince with pain. Her strength was so surprising, as she started to drag him to her house, that he apologized and said: “I am going to Kyoto to take part in the sumo match, but you have beaten me, and I am grieviously disappointed in myself”. But she replied, “Please stay here with me for several days, and I will take care of you.” She served him rice & instructed him for 7 days, whereupon he proceeded to Kyoto and won the matches.
