The 16th century court musician Toyohara Sumiaki is fearfully encountering two fierce wolves beneath a full moon on the moors. He decides to play his favorite tune on his flute for the last time. This has the effect of pacifying the wolves, who lie down to listen and then return to the woods. The wolves are taken from an illustration by Kuniyoshi.

Condition: Excellent impression and color. Very good condition. Very narrow area of soiling near rightmost edge.
