The former courtesan Jigoku-dayu has just penetrated the illusury sphere of reality and realized the supreme truth of impermanence; the title is “The Enlightenment of Jigoku-dayu”. Her wisdom is reflected in her vision of a courtesan’s procession that consists of skeletons, complete with a skeleton holding a skeletal umbrella over the head of the skeleton courtesan.
