The most important design in the masterpiece series of “Snow, Moon and Flowers (Setsugekka no uchi)”. Here is the actor Ichikawa Danjûrô IX as the Nagasaki pirate Kezori Kueimon. He has just challenged a Kyoto merchant to a duel for the love of the courtesan Kojorô. It was said that Yoshitoshi spent three days drawing the hair and beard on this design. The moon here is tinged with pink, and the pirate’s face has a more pinkish hue than the example shown in “Beauty & Violence”.

Condition: Excellent impression and color; very good condition. Upper white margin has been trimmed, and slight trimming bottom.
