Artist: Yoshida Hiroshi (1876-1950)
Title: Willow and Stone Bridge  Date: 1926 (Taisho 15)

Two women dressed in traditional kimono cross a charming stone bridge over a pond with flowering lotus plants. Willow trees in bright green hang their branches over the pond, their reflections seen glimmering in the water. Hiroshi was known to be extremely exacting when it came to the colors in his prints, and this work has unusually well-preserved colors that accurately reflect the artist’s intentions.
