Amerikakoku. The Stars and Stripes (with twelve stars) flies proudly over an imagined American city, the air filled with balloonists. Women in full skirts and bonnets watch from a verandah, surrounded by a city that seems to be built of grey stone. The Library of Congress version has been patriotically revised to show balloonists flying Japanese flags, with the title changed so that the image shows a testing of balloons by the Japanese Navy in front of the American Consulate in Japan.
