The courtesan Oteru from the House Wakamatsu cleans a teabowl, her kimono of stylized waves flowing down behind her. There is a poem done in calligraphy upper right. Shikimaro was a pupil of Utamaro. In this series Shikimaro depicts a courtesan (tayû) with her waka poem in her own writing. The title is in the center of a ring of bells, house name and “sanjû-rokuban tsuzuki” on the right, and the names of courtesan and kamuros on the left.
