Goddess riding a Dragon. Above, a cartouche that mimics a picture frame hanging on two padded hooks, Hiroshige II depicts the precinct of each temple which belongs to 34 temples of Chihibu pilgrimage. A waka poem which a pilgrim chants is added to the picture. Below Kunisada depicts a scene from the legend related to the origin of the temple. During the period of Genshô Empress (715-24) a mysterious witch came out at night and brought a lantern on the top of the mountain. When monks were passing through this area they found shining kannon statues in a bush. The detailed story is written by Mantei Ôga
