Daiyôban torano tawamure. There is conversation between the anthropomorphic tigers and a leopard wearing a kimono who holds a long tobacco pipe. The conversation roughly says: “Far away from the country of the south where we scarcely found enough to eat, we were caught, separated from our parents and came to Yokohama, meeting with leopards. In Edo we became popular doing crossing and are doing so well that we cannot go back so soon (after 100 days).” The faces on the big cats look like those of actors, and the slash marks on the foreground character must have something to do with the disguised story line.
