Visitors climb the shaded steps towards Yomeimon Gate at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Surrounded by towering Cryptomeria trees, the shrine gate is considered Japan’s most lavishly decorated gate, a masterpiece of Edo-period woodwork and decoration, completed in the early 17th century. The shrine is a memorial to Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Pencil signed, lifetime edition.
