A boy stops to rearrange two woven baskets that he carries. Coming towards us is a child with a conical hood who seems to be snacking and behind him are three more pedestrians on the snow-covered road. The Mingei feeling of this work is undeniable. The traditional thatched-roofed structures are piled high with snow. The charm and folksy, rustic feeling of Saito work overlays a sophisticated mastery of design and technique.
