“Kabuki Reformation: Ichikawa Danjuro IX as Kunsunoki Masatsura at the Battle of Shijonawate” Engeki kairyô: Yoshino shui Shijônawata Kusu(noki) Masatsura uchijini no zu. Extremely rare design reminiscent of the Kuniyoshi double triptych of a samurai bearing up beneath a literal rain of arrows. Provenance: Toshikata. The prints collected by Toshikata tend to be extremely early impressions, as this example.

Condition: Excellent impression, and color. Very good condition; some trimming and ink transfer. Collector’s seal of Toshikata.
