Wearing only a red loincloth, tattooed Namauo Chôjirô runs to the left with a huge blade over his head while a severed head flies into the air. The head bears an expression of surprise. At the feet of Chojiro lie a bamboo staff and a sword. The blade he wields is not of a type usually used for fighting, but one designed for more mundane tasks. His tattoo is of a dragon amidst clouds and waves. The text is written by Sanzan-tei Arindo. This series was one of Yoshitoshi’s earliest major efforts.
