Sumidagawa, Afternoon.  Boats ply the Sumida River, which sparkles against the unseen sun that must be overhead,  while passengers await a ferry at a landing in the right foreground. The watercraft are mostly sailboats, and the passengers on the  dock wear traditional Japanese kimono. The Tokyo skyline also looks as though it could be from a century or two earlier, as we see nary a modern building. This work evokes Manet and other French Impressionists. Yoshida published this work in several color versions that indicate different times of day and atmospheric conditions, with this one showing the light of afternoon.

Condition: Very good impression, color and condition. Minor label remnants, verso and minor creases in margins.
