From the set of “Eight Famous Views” (meishô hakkei), we see the snow-covered top of Mt. Fuji soaring towards the sky. This depiction of Fuji-san is a complete departure from the conventions of Hokusai and Hiroshige. The distant view of the shrine shows a large complex with sacred buildings. Some pilgrims are entering the shrine. From Toyokuni II’s most celebrated series. Extremely rare. The Japanese title is “Fuji bosetsu”; Complete view of Shimosengen middle complex (Shimosengen zûsha chûgû zenzu).
